Vladimir attracts tourists – lovers of antiquity

USPENSKY SOBOR
It is located on a hill and rises above the Klyazma. We got to the updated view of the cathedral, which was expanded after a fire in 1185. Galleries were added that ensured the unity of the whole space. The magnificent painting of the cathedral is preserved only in fragments, among them the famous frescoes by Andrei Rublev. Sculptural decoration is not preserved at all. The cathedral became the legislator of the construction of later temples in Russia.
DMITRIYEVSKIY SOBOR
It was rebuilt in 1197 and is famous for its stone carvings. The walls of the cathedral are decorated with 6 hundred reliefs with images of saints and mythical animals. The main part of the thread is preserved in its original form. Some parts have been restored. In the interior of the high arches, you can see fragments of the 12th century mural “The Last Judgment”. The cathedral looks fabulous compared to similar buildings of that era.
