NATURAL FEATURES
The Crimean peninsula is located in the South European part of Russia. From the south and west, the peninsula is washed by the Black Sea, on the east side – by the waters of the Sea of ​​Azov. It should be noted that the Sea of ​​Azov is the smallest sea in the world, the maximum depth in it is 13.5 meters. The depth of the Black Sea, rapidly increasing from the coast, reaches its maximum mark of 2,210 meters.
Various landscapes are concentrated on a relatively small territory of the Crimea: the northern and central parts of the peninsula are occupied by plains, and the relief of the southern regions is mountainous. In the Crimea, you can find sandy and pebble beaches, picturesque coves, numerous grottoes, mines and caves, steep cliffs and even cools of volcanic mountain ranges.
On the territory of Crimea there are over 50 salt lakes and more than 250 rivers! The longest river of the Crimean peninsula is Salgir, the most affluent is the Belbek river. Rivers often form cascades of waterfalls, unique canyons and gorges, which, due to their beauty, are very popular among tourists.
COMFORTABLE CLIMATE
The best time to rest on the Crimean coast is from the end of May to mid-October. The rest of the time, Crimea is also not without tourists, which is facilitated by ski resorts and the rich historical heritage of Crimea. May is well suited for recreation lovers of rich excursion programs. It is still cold to swim, but at the end of May the air temperature warms up to 25 ° C. In June, it becomes noticeably warmer, you can sunbathe with might and main, but the water in the sea is still cool. The second half of July and August is the hottest time to rest in the Crimea: the air can warm up to elevations above 40 ° C, the water temperature is 24–27 ° C.
On the southern coast of Crimea is somewhat cooler, due to the presence of cold currents. In June, you can fully enjoy cherries and cherries, in July – peaches and apricots, in August-September – grapes. At the Sea of ​​Azov, water warms up faster; in high season, the water temperature reaches 27–28 ° C. The shallow waters of the Sea of ​​Azov are a big plus for families with small children, however, strong winds can cause clouding of the water.
September is a velvet month for holidays on the Crimean coast. The day is not so hot, and the temperature for swimming is still comfortable, as in the hot summer months. The evenings are cool. In the second half of September, rains and small waves of the sea are possible. October will suit lovers of secluded relaxation. The weather this month is set to truly autumn.
WHAT DOES THE CRIMEA MEAN?
The Crimean peninsula is famous for its stunning architecture – palaces, estates and manors. One of the main attractions of the Crimea is the Livadia Palace, which served as the summer residence of the Russian emperors. Livadia Palace is located in the Yalta region, in the village of Livadia. No less famous is the Swallow’s Nest located on the southern shore – the palace-castle, built on a 40-meter high cliff.
And remember the poem by A.S. Pushkin’s “The Fountain of Bakhchisarai”? The Palace of Bakhchisarai, sung by the poet, which is the former residence of the Crimean khans, is also located in the Crimea! The sights of Crimea can be listed for a long time: famous palaces, beautiful temples and churches, reserves, canyons, mountains, caves …
REST IN THE CRIMEA
Crimean resorts are located on different coasts of the peninsula. The most popular tourist area is the South Coast of Crimea (YuBK), which includes such famous resorts as Yalta, Sudak, Alupka, Alushta, as well as resort villages Gurzuf, Simeiz, Foros and others. The south of Crimea is distinguished by a mountainous landscape, pebbly and gravel beaches. The resorts on the south coast are relatively close to each other. Close to the Mediterranean subtropical climate, clean mountain air – factors that have a beneficial effect on the health of tourists vacationing here.
The most famous holiday destinations on the east coast are the resorts of Feodosia, Koktebel, Novy Svet, Kerch. The majestic mountain landscapes of the eastern part of the Crimea smoothly turn into calm plains. The beaches of this coast are sandy, sandy-gravel with a small shell rock, gravel-pebble. The fine sandy beach of Theodosia, called Golden, was widely known. The Azov Sea coast, near the town of Shelkino, can boast of good beaches.
